The high towers you might remember from Breath of the Wild are back in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. You still need to access them to reveal large swaths of the map. They still function as fast travel points. However, you no longer have to climb most of them. Often, you merely have to reach them and maybe solve a quick puzzle. Here is our guide on how to get past the monsters guarding the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Tears of the Kingdom – how to get past the monsters guarding the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower
This being The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there are probably more ways to get past the guards posted around the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower than you or I can imagine. However, there are two common options. You can get past the monsters guarding the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower either through brute force, or by wearing a special mask.
I tried the first approach numerous times, and I can’t say I recommend it. Near the base of the tower, there’s a Blue Bokoblin. He’s not so tough. Then, as you start to climb to the higher platform, you’ll likely encounter a Moblin. This monster likes to blow up nearby barrels of explosives (and sometimes itself, and sometimes you). You can help things along by shooting a flaming arrow at the barrels from a distance when the Moblin is near them.
After that, you have to ascend some stairs. More Bokoblin enemies wait behind a gate at the top of a ramp. As you get near, they’ll roll a metal spiked ball at you. If you get past that hazard, they’ll rush you. There are several of the monsters, and more join the fray as you ascend. They will also bring in a much larger brute as muscle. With so many enemies occupying such a small space, it’s difficult to press past them without taking fatal damage. You can hit explosive barrels to cause mass damage, but you might also get caught in the blast. Like I said, I don’t recommend this approach.
The second approach is by far the most efficient. It requires the Bokoblin Mask. If you don’t already have the appropriate attire, check out our guide on how to get the Bokoblin Mask.
As you work your way through the enemy defenses with the mask equipped, you’ll find they pay much less attention to you. In my case, they didn’t ignore activity entirely. However, resistance was sufficiently light enough that I was able to run for the tower and take only light damage along the way. If I had gone more slowly, I think I would have avoided even that issue. I’ve walked through the camp wearing the mask and they gathered around me to sniff at me, but they never attacked.
One way or another, your goal is to reach the front door. Once you climb the steps and open the door, you’re good to activate the terminal.
