Dotemu and Tribute Games have announced an upcoming expansion to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge that will satisfy fans’ cravings for more gameplay! The TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge DLC called Dimension Shellshock consists of new content and will be released later in 2023 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms at an unknown cost.
What’s in the TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge DLC?
The major attraction of Dimension Shellshock, the TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge DLC, is the new playable character, Usagi Yojimbo, a famous Japanese comic book character themed around samurai cinema and set in the Edo era of Japanese history. A trailer shows Yojimbo slicing the Foot Clan with his sword. Though Dotemu has confirmed the DLC will have additional characters, there has been no official announcement regarding how many or their details.
In addition to more characters, the DLC features a new game mode with even more music from Tee Lopes, the composer of the base game. Dotemu has promised to release more details about this mysterious mode soon. In addition, there will be additional color schemes for the characters.
The expansion will come with another free update that will include another batch of color palette choices, although it isn’t clear what else the patch will do. The latest update, from December 2022, already added video filters and custom modes!
Dotemu has explained that the DLC and update were inspired by the game’s success and enthusiastic fan base. Despite being released on Game Pass, Shredder’s Revenge sold over a million copies in merely a week. By October 2022, it had contributed to Dotemu’s earning a global revenue of $22 million.
The press release also states that users can use the DLC on the PS5, even though it is only available via backward compatibility, whereas the original game had a native PS5 port. It is unknown if an updated version of the DLC will be available on PS5.
