Gotta celebrate ‘em all!
Niantic, the company behind Pokémon Go, is gearing up to celebrate the game’s seventh anniversary with a week-long event filled with special bonuses. Since its launch on July 6, 2016, Pokémon Go has become a dominant force in the mobile gaming industry, amassing $6 billion in player spending by its sixth anniversary. While the exact revenue figures for the seventh anniversary are unknown, Niantic has announced exciting plans to mark the occasion.
Throughout the week, players can expect various special events and bonuses. These include increased experience points, candy, and stardust, as well as halved egg-hatching distances. Additionally, a Masterwork Research Story will make a comeback, and different Pokémon, such as Squirtle and Pikachu, will appear each day wearing celebratory hats. Players will also have a higher chance of encountering shiny Pokémon, including all starter Pokémon from Bulbasaur to Fennekin.
Impressive Pokémon Go Statistics
As Pokémon Go enters its seventh year, Niantic has shared some fascinating statistics about the game’s success. Over the course of the past seven years, players have caught more than 614 billion Pokémon and traded over 11 billion. Interestingly, this number matches the total count of raid battles that have taken place in the game. Pokémon Go has also expanded its reach and is now available in over 150 countries and regions, surpassing the original number of Pokémon species. Niantic expressed their gratitude to all the Trainers who have joined them on this adventure.
Niantic’s Collaborations
Niantic has actively formed partnerships to encourage players to explore the real world while playing Pokémon Go. For example, they teamed up with Kung Fu Tea’s 350+ shops in the United States to provide refreshments for players.
