Activision Blizzard Reports Strong Q2 2023 Financial Results
Activision Blizzard has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2023, exceeding expectations with a net booking of $2.46 billion. This marks a significant increase of 50% compared to the same period in 2022, bringing the year-to-date total to $4.31 billion, representing a 38% increase from 2022.
In terms of revenue, the company generated a total of $2.20 billion in Q2 2023, experiencing a 34% YoY growth from $1.64 billion in Q2 2022. While mobile remains the leading revenue stream, contributing $943 million (43% of total revenue), both PC and console platforms have shown notable gains, accounting for 27% and 25% of revenue respectively.
This positive trend extends to the first half of the year, where mobile and ancillary platforms generated $1.90 billion in revenue, representing 41% of the $4.6 billion total. This is an improvement from $1.64 billion (48% of total revenue) in H1 2022.
The Dominance of Call of Duty
Undoubtedly, the Call of Duty franchise continues to be a major moneymaker for Activision Blizzard. The financial report emphasizes the success of the franchise, particularly Call of Duty Mobile. The engagement and net bookings for the game have remained stable YoY, reaching an impressive revenue milestone of over $3 billion.
According to the report, Call of Duty Mobile accounts for more than half of the overall engagement with the franchise. Activision Blizzard aims to replicate this success with the upcoming Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, which promises a seamless experience across PC, console, and mobile platforms.
Activision Blizzard has also been recognized as one of the top 50 mobile game makers of 2022, and the forthcoming list for 2023 is highly anticipated.
