Exciting News for Borderlands Fans!
In a surprising announcement, a new project, Borderlands EchoVision Live, is currently in development. This interactive streaming series is being created by the same team responsible for the mysterious Silent Hill: Ascension. Just like its Silent Hill counterpart, EchoVision Live offers a unique and immersive experience where fans can influence the story and characters.
According to PC Gamer, “audiences from around the world will determine whether these all-new characters make it from zeroes-to-heroes, how they handle the pressure, how they relate to each other, and what kind of person – and future Vault Hunter – each of them is.”
That’s right – in Borderlands: EchoVision Live, fans will have a direct and permanent influence on the unfolding narrative experience. They will engage in making story decisions and collectively shape the outcomes of the series. This is a similar concept to what we can expect from Silent Hill: Ascension.
The project’s description provides a tantalizing preview of what’s to come: “Eight wannabe Vault Hunters fork over their hard-earned cash for a safely guided tour of Eden-6 – all the excitement with none of the danger! What could possibly go wrong? Turns out a lot.”
The unfortunate tourists find themselves stranded in the perilous town of Greywater Junction, surrounded by cutthroats, bandits, and danger at every turn. To survive, they must overcome their fears, failings, and greed, uniting to face the countless bullets aimed their way.
While the Silent Hill-themed series is set to debut in 2023, Genvid, the developer behind Borderlands EchoVision, has not provided a specific release window for their project.
In case you missed it, we also received news about the upcoming Borderlands feature film. According to a tweet from the game’s official Twitter account, the highly anticipated film, simply titled Borderlands, is scheduled for release on August 9, 2024.
The star-studded cast includes Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Arinana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Directed by horror aficionado Eli Roth, known for his work with Quentin Tarantino, and with a screenplay by Craig Mazin, the writer of The Last of Us and Chernobyl, the film promises to bring the beloved game franchise to life on the big screen.
It’s worth noting that Craig Mazin recently distanced himself from the project, stating that he “cannot claim any kind of authorship of Borderlands”. Nevertheless, fans eagerly await the opportunity to explore the Borderlands universe in a whole new way.
