How to Defeat the Nightweaver in Remnant 2: A Guide
Despite the negative reputation that videogame journalists often receive, I have always considered myself to be pretty skilled at videogames. One genre that particularly appeals to me is Soulslike games because they provide a sense of continuous improvement. This is especially true when facing challenging bosses like the Nightweaver in Remnant 2. In this article, I will share my strategies and tips for defeating this formidable boss.
Overview of the Nightweaver Boss Fight
Located in the Losomn area of Remnant 2, the Nightweaver emerges from the depths of terror to haunt the Marrow Parish. After defeating her once, she returns with an even more challenging second phase. The encounter becomes even more difficult as you don’t receive any additional resources or health, and the arena may be disadvantageous depending on your playstyle. Prepare yourself for a battle that requires time and perseverance.
Nightweaver Phase 1
When facing the Nightweaver in the first phase, be prepared for fast and aggressive attacks. Rolling frequently will be essential. If you find your stamina lacking, it may be advisable to grind for trait points before this battle. The Nightweaver possesses four main attacks to watch out for:
- Shooting Stars: These projectiles fire from her chest and target you. While they don’t deal significant damage, they can be bothersome, especially when combined with her other major attacks. Wait for them to approach before rolling or utilize the environment to destroy them. They emit a distinct twinkling sound.
- Swipes and Slam: The Nightweaver dashes across the map, obliterating everything in her path. If she hits you, you’ll be knocked back, followed by a ground slam that can instantly kill you. Keep a vigilant eye to avoid these attacks, requiring precise timing for two rolls.
- Spectral Rain: After being staggered, the Nightweaver releases spectral goo that rains down upon you. This attack is relatively easy to dodge by sprinting away.
- Nightweaver Spiders: As the Nightweaver raises her hands, her heart is exposed, triggering the appearance of spiders from her chest. These spiders not only drop loot but also serve as the key to defeating her in the first phase. Focus your attacks on her heart to deal significant damage and potentially eliminate her ability to summon spiders.
Nightweaver Phase 2
Don’t be mistaken; the fight isn’t over yet. In the second phase, you’ll find yourself inside the asylum, navigating small corridors and rooms. Until the spider spawning phase, it’s advisable to remain in the main room located downstairs. This area offers more space to dodge and evade the Nightweaver’s attacks.
In this phase, the Nightweaver possesses attacks that can swiftly drain a significant portion of your health. These attacks can emerge from the walls or through charged movements. It is crucial to always remain away from the walls to avoid falling victim to these deadly assaults. Here are the primary attacks to be aware of:
- Lunge with Stars: The Nightweaver jumps backward, fires stars, and then swiftly swipes at you. Timing your roll accurately is crucial, and avoid the temptation to dodge prematurely.
- Double Attack: This attack caught me off guard the most while facing the Nightweaver in Remnant 2. She charges forward, delivering two sets of slashes with a long telegraph. The assault concludes with a powerful charged ground slam that deals massive damage. Successfully evading this attack demands three precisely timed rolls, which can only be mastered through practice. It’s worth noting that Remnant 2 lacks a lock-on feature, which is a slight oversight in my opinion.
- Dream Thief: With a noticeable windup, the Nightweaver stretches her arms outward and charges toward the player. A different camera angle indicates her intent to drain the life force of any downed player. In single-player mode, she can be kicked off after reaching a specific health threshold, which surprisingly involves a hidden quick-time event without any visible prompt. In multiplayer, you have the option to shoot her off the incapacitated player. Be cautious if your health is below ¾, as death becomes highly likely.
- Teleport: The Nightweaver disappears momentarily, reappearing through the walls or floor to launch her attacks. Maintain a safe distance from the walls to evade these surprise strikes.
- Spider Spawn: The Nightweaver vanishes down one of the corridors or rooms in the asylum, summoning spiders to locate you. These spiders can replenish your ammo, proving advantageous. However, if you want to exploit an opportunity for cheap shots, identify the origin point of the spiders and unload your weapons into the Nightweaver’s exposed heart.
Keep pushing forward with determination, and victory will be within your grasp. The Nightweaver poses a true nightmare due to her rapid movements and relentless assault. As someone who prefers swift eliminations, I had to learn the importance of patience and precise timing to succeed in Remnant 2.
