Alan Wake 2 Release Date Pushed Back to October 27
October is known for its fierce competition in the world of video game launches, and this year is no exception. In light of this, Alan Wake 2, the highly anticipated sequel, will be experiencing a slight delay. Originally slated for release on October 17, Remedy, the game’s developer, has announced that the new release date is now October 27. The announcement was made on social media.
“We’re moving Alan Wake 2’s launch from October 17 to October 27. October is an amazing month for game launches and we hope this date shift gives more space for everyone to enjoy their favorite games.
We can’t wait to show you what everyone’s favorite novelist is up to in the Dark Place next week. Thanks for your patience!”
Fortunately, this adjustment still allows the game to debut during the spooky season just before Halloween, which is perfectly suited for this survival-horror title. By shifting away from its original date, Alan Wake 2 avoids the potential overshadowing that could have occurred with the launches of Spider-Man 2 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage within the same timeframe. This strategic move aims to prevent a reoccurrence of the situation in 2010 when the original game was released alongside Red Dead Redemption.
Remedy’s showcase of a new gameplay demo for Alan Wake 2 is scheduled to take place during Gamescom, which is happening next week. The demo will provide an exciting glimpse into the titular writer’s journey through the Dark Place. Earlier this year, players were given a sneak peek at the gameplay, specifically featuring the new playable co-protagonist, Saga Anderson.
