Fortnite Boss and Chief Creative Officer, Donald Mustard, Announces Retirement

After spending 25 years in the gaming industry, Donald Mustard, the Fortnite boss and chief creative officer at Epic Games, has decided to retire. Mustard gained recognition as a co-founder of Chair Entertainment, the developer behind Shadow Complex and Infinity Blade. Epic Games acquired Chair in 2008, and in 2016, Mustard took on the role of chief creative officer, overseeing the incredible success of Fortnite.

In a statement shared on social media, Mustard expressed his decision to retire, stating, “After an incredible adventure, I will be retiring from my role as chief creative officer at Epic this month.”

Reflecting on his career, Mustard expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with incredibly talented individuals and create innovative games. He highlighted the success of Undertow, Shadow Complex, and the Infinity Blade trilogy, as well as the honor of being part of the Epic team. Mustard also expressed pride in his contribution to Fortnite and the joy it brings to the gaming community.

As he looks towards the future, Mustard expressed excitement about joining the Fortnite community as a player. He reassured fans that the development teams at Epic have incredible plans in the works, promising “huge, jaw-dropping, amazing things!”
