Bandai Namco Trademarks “Sparking! Zero” for Dragon Ball Z Game
In March of this year, Bandai Namco announced that a new Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi game was in the works.
Recent updates have revealed that a trademark for “Sparking! Zero” has been filed in the US, adding to the speculation about the upcoming game’s title and a potential announcement in the near future. The Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series is known as the Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! series in Japan, with “Sparking!” being a consistent element across the original three titles.
Gematsu: “The trademark could suggest the game’s title will be Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Zero, at least in Japan, as well as that a follow-up announcement is coming soon.”
While details about the new game are scarce, it is confirmed to be in the early stages of development. No platforms or release date have been confirmed yet. Bandai Namco has released a brief teaser video featuring Goku in his Super Saiyan Blue form from the Dragon Ball Super series.
The first game in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi, was released in 2005 on the PlayStation. It was followed by Budokai Tenkaichi 2 in 2006 and Budokai Tenkaichi 3 in 2007, both of which were released on the Nintendo Wii.
