Epic Games Announces the Return of Fortnite’s Chapter 1 Map on November 3rd
In an exciting development for Fortnite enthusiasts longing for the game’s nostalgic roots, Epic Games has revealed that the original Chapter 1 map will be making a comeback on November 3rd. This confirmation follows weeks of speculation from Fortnite leakers, who had been suggesting that the Chapter 1 map would feature in an upcoming season.
The announcement regarding the return of Fortnite’s Chapter 1 map was made on the game’s official account on X (formerly Twitter).
The accompanying image, which hints at potential improvements to the map’s traversal system, showcases the iconic Battle Bus and urges players to “Sprint (or Mantle, your choice) back to Chapter 1.” Although certain aspects of the map’s layout might feel somewhat dated compared to its successors, the transition to Unreal Engine 5 in 2022 guarantees that it will look better than ever.
Eurogamer reports that leaks preceding the announcement suggest that only select portions of the iconic map will return. According to Fortnite leakers, the Chapter 1 map’s reappearance will be the result of a time machine mishap caused by the current season’s antagonist, Kado Thorne. This end-of-season event will gradually reintroduce parts of the map, with further alterations occurring in the following weeks. Eventually, a new Island map will debut in December to commemorate the start of Fortnite Season 5. The availability of all game modes on the revised Chapter 1 map remains uncertain for now.
The temporary resurrection of the Chapter 1 map marks the most significant change since Charlie Wen, the designer behind Kratos, joined Epic Games as Chief Operating Officer. Although Fortnite has undergone numerous updates since its introduction in 2017, revisiting the map that initiated it all will undoubtedly evoke nostalgia among long-time players. Additionally, as Fortnite is one of the games available for PS5 cloud streaming, PS Plus Premium members can enjoy battling their way through the classic map without needing extra storage space on their console.
