The focal point of this year’s event is a yeti hunt, which culminates in players receiving a free yeti outfit. However, tracking down the elusive yeti is no easy feat.
Where to Investigate the Chiliad Wilderness in GTA Online
Upon logging into GTA Online for the 2023 Festive Surprise event, players will receive a text message from a hunter named Tanner. He alerts you to the presence of an unknown creature wreaking havoc in the Chiliad wilderness and tasks you with locating the necessary clues to track it down. The game provides only a rough area for the search, which can make the hunt for evidence quite frustrating.
In total, there are five yeti clues to find in GTA Online, each with a designated location that is marked on the map.

- Bloodied Tent
- Body Parts
- Dead Deer
- Car Wreck
There won’t be any blips on your minimap for these items, so it’s essential to stay vigilant and observant. Upon discovering a clue, press the interact button to collect it (right on the D-Pad for controllers, E on keyboard). Once all five clues are found, return to the Chiliad wilderness at night to further pursue the hunt.
How to Beat the Yeti in GTA Online
Returning to the designated area after nightfall, players will encounter the yeti, which instantly initiates a pursuit. Fortunately, it spawns at a distance and is indicated on the minimap by a red skull, allowing players to prepare for the impending battle.

The yeti can endure a considerable amount of damage before being defeated, so it’s crucial to equip yourself with your finest weapons and an ample supply of ammunition. It’s also advisable to stock up on snacks and body armor in preparation for the encounter. Utilize your most potent shotgun or assault rifle, and be prepared to dodge the yeti’s attacks.
Upon triumphing over the yeti, the yeti outfit will be added to your wardrobe, allowing you to assume the role of the creature and unleash chaos on the citizens of Los Santos. Additionally, players will receive a bonus reward of $50,000 deposited directly into their Maze Bank account. Although not as substantial as the payouts from Cayo Perico or Doomsday Heist, it’s still a generous gift.
