XUR OFFERS EXOTIC AND LEGENDARY GEAR IN DESTINY 2 THIS WEEK
Xur has arrived in the solar system as the Dawning continues to for one more week in Destiny 2. If you’re looking for new builds to take advantage of its new weapons (or that new Exotic Strand bow, Wish-Keeper, from the Warlord’s Reign dungeon), you might want to check out Xur’s slate of Legendary and Exotic gear. Here’s where to find Xur and what he’s selling this weekend.
This week you can find Xur in The EDZ, in the Winding Cove area.
Xur is offering Coldheart for his Exotic weapon this week. Hunters can snag the Celestial Nighthawk helmet; Titans have the Synthoceps gauntlets; and for Warlocks, Xur offers the Felwinter’s Helm helmet.
XUR LOCATION
Use the Winding Cove transmat zone in the EDZ to find Xur this week. When you spawn in, hop on your sparrow and head north along the highway that loops along the left side of the area. When it bends to the right, hop off and head to the cliff wall ahead. You’ll find a cave you can enter, which will twist up to the cliffs above where a Fallen skiff has crashed. Xur hangs out beside it, standing near the edge of the cliff.

EXOTIC ARMOR
Celestial Nighthawk (Exotic Hunter helmet)
Celestial Nighthawk spent a lot of years as a must-have Hunter Exotic for high-end content, especially raids. This was the Exotic to use to do massive Golden Gun damage to bosses. It reduces your Golden Gun to one single, high-damage shot, and combined with the Deadeye setting, allows you to do ridiculous damage in one blast. With a recent buff, Celestial Nighthawk is back to being an excellent boss damage option for Hunters, so if you don’t have one, pick this up. Xur’s roll isn’t great, but the total stat number is at least pretty high and its stats are fairly balanced, so you could do worse than this one.
- Mobility: 11
- Resilience: 8
- Recovery: 16
- Discipline: 10
- Intellect: 19
- Strength: 2
- Total: 66
Synthoceps (Exotic Titan gauntlets)
Synthoceps get some great synergy with various Titan builds, and often become a little too powerful at times, resulting in Bungie rebalancing the Exotic to make it a little less awesome. The gauntlets enhance your melee and Super damage when you’re surrounded, which can be great for melee-focused Titan builds that benefit from lots of kills against lots of enemies–and with the right approach, it can be great for boss damage, too. Mobility is a little too high on this roll, while Resistance is a little too low, so if you’re not picking Synthoceps up to unlock it from your Collections, you might want to skip this one unless it fits your build needs.
- Mobility: 12
- Resilience: 3
- Recovery: 21
- Discipline: 12
- Intellect: 10
- Strength: 10
- Total: 68
Felwinter’s Helm (Exotic Warlock helmet)
Melee-focused Warlocks can get a lot of benefit from Felwinter’s Helm, which gives some significant benefits when you land final blows with your powered melee. Killing enemies with a powered melee creates an explosion that weakens other enemies, and that explosion gets even bigger when you land final blows or execute finishers on more-powerful enemies. The weakening effect can be great for crowd control against lots of small enemies, and using it to debuff tougher enemies or bosses can turn the tide of battle and help you stack damage.
- Mobility: 7
- Resilience: 15
- Recovery: 10
- Discipline: 2
- Intellect: 16
- Strength: 14
- Total: 64
EXOTIC WEAPONS
Coldheart (Exotic trace rifle)
An old Exotic but a great Exotic, Coldheart is a trace rifle that pairs perfectly with a lot of Arc builds. It fires a steady laser that lets you zap enemies from pretty long distances with a lot of accuracy, and the longer you hold the beam on targets, the more powerful it becomes. The synergy comes from the fact that Coldheart final blows periodically generate Ionic Traces, those little electrical buffs that give you ability energy when they reach you. Ionic Traces can get you grenades and powered melees back very quickly, so this can be a very useful addition to a lot of Arc builds that rely on things like pulse grenades.
Hawkmoon (Exotic hand cannon)
Hawkmoon this week is mostly just fine. It sports strong recoil control, which can make it a little easier to use, but Snapshot Sights is definitely not the best main perk you can get on this gun. Generally, you want more Range than this to be effective in the Crucible in particular.
