How to Tackle the Blaziken Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Blaziken, the ultimate form of the Gen 3 Fire-type starter Torchic, is a force to be reckoned with. The combination of Fire/Fighting typing along with the Flexibility of the Flying Tera Type makes Blaziken a formidable opponent. If you find yourself struggling to conquer the 7-star Blaziken Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, I’ve got some tips to help you out.
Strategies to Overcome the Blaziken Tera Raid
The Flying Tera type coverage grants Blaziken an array of moves that can shut down many otherwise powerful raid combatants. Additionally, Tera Raid Pokémon possess a larger move pool compared to regular Pokémon, so it’s essential to know what you’re going up against.
Blaziken Moveset
Tera Type: Flying
- Brave Bird
- Bulk Up
- Earthquake
- Overheat
- Low Kick
- Swords Dance
- Blaze Kick
If you’re counting on Annihialape to carry you through this battle, think again. Blaziken’s relentless use of Brave Bird will take down Annihialape in a single hit, regardless of its training. Fear not, however, as Bellibolt is an excellent choice to take on the challenge, and it’s even viable for solo play.
Here’s the recommended Moveset for Bellibolt:
Bellibolt Moveset
Tera Type: Electric
Nature: Modest
Ability: Electromorphosis
Held Item: Magnet
- Electric Terrain
- Parabolic Charge
- Charge
- Your Preference
Spamming Parabolic Charge is the crux of this battle strategy. Not only does Parabolic Charge deal damage, but it also heals Bellibolt with every hit. Furthermore, the Electromorphosis ability enhances the power of Bellibolt’s next Electric attack after sustaining damage. By repeatedly using Parabolic Charge, you’ll deal enough damage to defeat Blaziken within the time allotted.
Conquering the Blaziken Tera Raid Alone
You can employ the same Bellibolt build listed above, and rest assured, it works. I personally emerged victorious against Blaziken with AI teammates on my first attempt. It’s advisable to be tactful, specifically by setting up with Electric Terrain. However, despite using a less-than-optimal setup, I still managed to overcome Blaziken, allowing room for a margin of error.
Blaziken’s sustained use of moves such as Bulk Up can pose a significant challenge. An interesting observation from my limited testing suggests that Blaziken utilizes Bulk Up less often if Bellibolt isn’t equipped with a held item. Though unconfirmed, it’s worth experimenting without a held item if the current strategy isn’t yielding results.
Alternative Pokémon Choices for Defeating Blaziken
While I haven’t personally experimented with this, reports from other Trainers indicate that Miraidon can be used instead of Bellibolt to achieve similar results. Once again, Parabolic Charge proves to be the go-to move, and Electro Drift can be utilized if Miraidon’s HP is at its maximum.
