Bloober’s Silent Hill 2 remake gets fresh airing in combat-focused trailer

It’s been a while since we’ve seen any updates on Konami and Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake, but the latest PlayStation State of Play showcase has unveiled a new trailer highlighting the game’s “improved and modernized” combat feature.

While combat may not be the primary focus of the original Silent Hill 2, the trailer does dedicate a significant portion to showcasing the bat-swinging and shotgun-blasting action.

Impressively, the Silent Hill 2 remake remains true to the aesthetic of the original 2001 PlayStation 2 game, promising a faithful recreation of the beloved horror experience.

However, the State of Play showing didn’t offer a release date or window for Silent Hill 2, leaving fans eager for more information. Despite earlier suggestions of a 2024 release, the new trailer remains silent on the game’s launch timeframe, only stating that the remake is “in development for PlayStation 5”.

Bloober previously mentioned that work on the remake was “progressing smoothly” and asked for patience until more details could be shared. In the meantime, Konami has announced a new “contemporary” first-person Silent Hill entry titled The Last Message, which will be released for free on PS5 today.
