Is Helldivers 2 Experiencing Server Issues?
Reports of matchmaking issues and crashes have surfaced on the launch day of Arrowhead Game Studios’ frantic third-person shooter, Helldivers 2. The game has launched on PC and PlayStation 5, but players are encountering problems with the game’s servers. Here’s what we know so far:
At around 3:40pm GMT, players flooded the official Helldivers 2 Discord server with reports of server outages. This was also confirmed by TechRadar Gaming. However, within 10 minutes, the servers seemed to return to normalcy without any official intervention.
Current Status of Helldivers 2 Servers
As of now, the Helldivers 2 servers appear to be functioning normally again. However, given the ongoing technical issues, this situation might change. We will keep updating this article with the latest information as it becomes available.
Just before 4pm GMT, an update from Arrowhead Game Studios’ CEO, Johan Pilestedt, was shared on the official Discord server.
“Hey everyone, we did an optimization update to the backend that unfortunately gate rushed ourselves (can you say friendly fire?),” Pilestedt wrote. “In common English: ‘someone tripped on the network cable.’ Backend will be up and running soon. And service will continue. We are actively monitoring and resolving the situation. Head of backend says sorry.”
Pilestedt also addressed the previous technical issues faced by players on the game’s launch day. He acknowledged the matchmaking and login screen issues and assured the community that the team is working on resolving them.
Moreover, game director Mikael Eriksson mentioned earlier in the day: “We are aware that there’s an issue that shows up when you hit Quickplay and the game attempts to matchmake. We are on it and attempting a fix as soon as we can.”
