Paradox Interactive Reveals The Machine Age Expansion for Stellaris
Paradox Interactive has announced The Machine Age, the upcoming major expansion for the popular space-faring 4X strategy game Stellaris. Set to launch for PC in the second quarter of 2024, this expansion will delve into “cybernetic, synthetic, and machine themes.”
According to Paradox, “Scientists have discovered advanced means to commune with the machine, enabling life to overcome the biological limitations of minds and flesh.” The Machine Age will signify a new era of technological advancement, but it will also bring along ethical and social dilemmas as ambitious endeavors uncover the true meaning of life.
New Features in The Machine Age Expansion
The Machine Age expansion will introduce a new Endgame Crisis centered around the return of an ancient synthetic threat. Additionally, players can expect a new Crisis Path focusing on technological ascendancy at any cost.
New Empires and Origins
The Machine Age will introduce non-Gestalt, individualist machine empires with unique personalities, bringing fresh stories and origins to the game. Players can delve into three new Machine Ascension Paths for added customization options.
Three new origins will also be added: Cybernetic Creed, Synthetic Fertility, and Arc Welders, each offering distinct narrative possibilities for players to explore.

In addition to the above, The Machine Age will feature new reactive portraits, six new Civics, new population traits, and two mid-game structures: the molten Arc Furnace and Dyson Swarm. Players can also look forward to seven new synth-inspired music tracks to enhance their gameplay experience.
