Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Will Be Only DLC, Director Teases Answers to Long-Running Questions

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Details Revealed

The highly anticipated Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is set to launch on June 30, and fans can expect a substantial addition to the game. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki recently confirmed that this DLC will be the only one released for Elden Ring. However, he teased that players may finally get answers to some of the game’s lingering mysteries.

Elden Ring’s Director Discusses Shadow of the Erdtree

In a recent interview with the Chinese-language publication Campfire Camp, Miyazaki shared insights into the upcoming Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. He explained that rather than dividing the content into multiple parts, the team opted to create one large expansion to maintain the game’s emphasis on exploration and adventure.

Miyazaki stated, “Elden Ring emphasizes the exploration and adventure of the big world . . . Therefore, instead of splitting it into several parts, it is better to simply make one big expansion. If they were sold separately, the freedom of exploration and sense of adventure would be reduced.”

The director also hinted that the DLC would address unanswered questions from the base game. One such mystery involves the relationship between the demigod Miquella and St. Trina. While fans speculate that these characters may be connected, Miyazaki described them as “different existences.” He confirmed that St. Trina will play a role in the DLC, shedding light on their relationship.

Although Shadow of the Erdtree will offer further exploration of the game’s lore, players should not expect a significant crossover with other Elden Ring characters. The narratives of the base game and the DLC remain mostly independent, with the latter focusing on new adventures and choices for players to make.

Unlike the main game, Shadow of the Erdtree may not have a clear “end,” but players will have the opportunity to shape the story through their decisions. While the DLC won’t alter the core game’s content, it promises to deliver a fresh and engaging experience for fans of Elden Ring.
