Medieval City-Building Strategy Manor Lords Welcomes a Familiar Face
Manor Lords, a medieval city-building strategy game, entered early access last month and has already captured the attention of its community through user-generated mods. One such mod introduces DreamWorks Animation’s popular character, Shrek, as a playable character in the game.
The creative mind behind this mod is NorskPL, who proudly proclaims, “Shrek is lord, Shrek is life.”
Displayed in the image above, this mod replaces the playable character in Manor Lords’ third-person mode with the iconic ogre himself.
One Proud Barvarian shared a post on X showcasing the Shrek mod in action. In the gameplay footage, Shrek can be seen jogging through a Manor Lords settlement while villagers scream and flee in terror.
Surprisingly, Shrek blends seamlessly into the game world, sparking curiosity about his sudden jogging appearance. Perhaps he’s late for work after a busy day attending to chores at home. Poor Shrek seems quite ogre-whelmed.
NorskPL doesn’t stop at Shrek; the creator has also integrated The Witcher’s Geralt into Manor Lords, adding more excitement to the gameplay experience.
For fans of Fallout, you can enhance your Manor Lords adventure by adding a Pip Boy Coat of Arms to your gameplay, providing a nostalgic Fallout fix after the recent Amazon TV show debut.
One can’t help but wonder if Lucy and The Ghoul will make an appearance in Manor Lords in the future. However, their integration may not be as seamless as that of Shrek and Geralt.
A Glimpse into Manor Lords: A One-Person Development
In our early access review of Manor Lords, Bertie from Eurogamer highlighted the confidence exuded by the game despite its one-person development. While acknowledging the spellbinding experience the game offers, Bertie also noted areas that could benefit from further development, emphasizing that Manor Lords is a pastoral idyll that still requires significant enhancements.
