Nintendo Ends Support for X on Switch
In a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Nintendo revealed that it will no longer support X on the Switch platform starting from 10th June 2024. This means that Switch users will no longer be able to post screenshots and videos to X from the system’s album, as well as send friend requests to social media users.
This decision will affect popular games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Splatoon 3, and Splatoon 2. Details can be found on Nintendo’s official support page.
Impact of Discontinued X Support on Nintendo Switch (10th June 2024)
Starting June 10, 2024, support for X (formerly Twitter) along with the ability to send friend requests to social media users from the Nintendo Switch friend suggestions feature will be discontinued.
The following services will be impacted:
- The feature for posting screenshots and videos to X (formerly Twitter) from the Album in the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu will no longer be available.
- While posting to Facebook will still be possible, this service may see discontinuation in the future.
- The ability to post Super Smash Bros. Ultimate screenshots to Smash World in the Nintendo Switch Online app will also be unavailable.
- Posting features in Splatoon 3 will be adjusted.
- Users will no longer be able to post to X or Facebook from certain locations in the game. The data will be sent directly to Nintendo servers.
- Images posted by players under 13 will not be visible to others.
- Posting features in Splatoon 2 will also be adjusted.
- Posting to X from the mailbox in the game will no longer be possible.
- Characters and posts in the game square will be replaced by pre-prepared data within the game software.
- The feature for sending friend requests to social media friends via the Friend Suggestions menu on My Page will be discontinued.
