Recently released on Steam, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut has quickly become one of PlayStation’s top launches on the platform in terms of concurrent players. According to SteamDB, the game has attracted a significant number of simultaneous players, with a current record of 61,453 players.
Surpassing the concurrent player count of popular Sony titles like Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, and The Last of Us Part 1, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is making waves in the gaming community. Only Helldivers 2, God of War, and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered have higher concurrent stats at 458,709, 73,529, and 66,436 players, respectively.
Receiving a “very positive” user review score from over 6000 Steam reviews, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut has been well-received by players. However, there have been some controversies surrounding the game’s crossplay functionality.
Developer Nixxes recently announced that the crossplay feature, which initially required a PSN login on PC, will now be launched with a “beta” label attached. While the cooperative online multiplayer mode, Legends, is functional on PC at launch, cross-play won’t be automatic, contrary to earlier assumptions.
Initially, Sucker Punch, the developer of Ghost of Tsushima, clarified that Steam players wouldn’t need to sign up for PSN if they only wanted to play the single-player campaign. However, due to a backlash related to a similar requirement in Helldivers, Steam began auto-refunding players in regions where PSN isn’t available, causing some discontent among the gaming community.
