Larian Studios, the team responsible for the critically acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3, has announced the opening of a new studio in Warsaw, Poland. This latest addition, Larian Studios Warsaw, marks the developer-publisher’s seventh studio globally, joining existing locations in Barcelona, Dublin, Gent, Guildford, Kuala Lumpur, and Quebec.
“With two highly ambitious RPG projects now in the works, we saw fit to expand our team and establish a presence in the vibrant gaming community of Poland,” the company shared in a recent announcement on X (formerly) Twitter.
While details about the two upcoming RPGs remain scarce, Larian’s CEO has confirmed that neither project will be a sequel to Baldur’s Gate 3. Despite the game’s success and accolades, including receiving Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023, Larian has decided to move on from the Baldur’s Gate franchise, ruling out any expansions or future titles.
In a separate blog post highlighting Larian Studios Warsaw, the company outlined its strategic approach with seven studios now operational worldwide.
“Setting up operations in one of the premier RPG development hubs globally – Poland, we have established our presence in the historic city of Warsaw,” the blog post stated. “Similar to our other studios worldwide, Larian Studios Warsaw is committed to fostering a creative environment that empowers developers and prioritizes innovation. Given the complexity of systems-heavy RPGs, we recognize the importance of having top-tier developers on board, which is why we place a strong emphasis on nurturing talent and fostering a culture of excellence.”
