Short words always trip me up in Connections puzzles. It’s easy to overlook their potential as prefixes or multiple meanings. Initially, I went with days of the week like TUE, WED, SAT, and SUN, which turned out to be incorrect.

The breakthrough came when I focused on longer words like PLACED to form the blue group. Green was all about simple synonyms, and eventually, the homophones in the yellow group became clear with only a few words left.

What is NYT Connections?

NYT Connections is a popular word game created by the New York Times. The objective is to identify groups of four items that share a common link. Each group varies in difficulty level, with green being the easiest, yellow slightly tougher, blue quite challenging, and purple very difficult.

You’re allowed up to four mistakes in this game, giving you some room for error. Additionally, you can solve the final group through process of elimination.

Unlike simpler word games like Wordle, NYT Connections can be more intricate and may include tricks to confuse players, such as homophones and other wordplay elements.

You can play this game for free on the NYT Games website on both desktop and mobile platforms.
