Modern Warfare 3 Coming to Xbox Game Pass
Amid speculation of Microsoft preparing to add more Call of Duty games to Xbox Game Pass, the company has officially announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be available on the subscription service starting Wednesday, July 24th.
According to Microsoft’s statement, Game Pass subscribers will have full access to all modes of Modern Warfare 3, including the single-player campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies.
This marks the second Activision Blizzard title to be added to Game Pass following Microsoft’s acquisition of the company last year, with Diablo 4 making its debut on the service in March. Additionally, subscribers can look forward to the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on October 24th.
However, there have been recent changes to the Game Pass service. Starting September 12th, the basic catalogue tier, now known as Xbox Game Pass Standard, will no longer offer access to first-party and other titles on their launch day. This benefit will only be available to subscribers of Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with all tiers receiving a price increase.
The upcoming availability of Modern Warfare 3 on Game Pass is strategically timed to attract new subscribers before the price adjustments in September. It remains to be seen whether this particular Call of Duty title will resonate with players, as Eurogamer’s Chris Tapsell criticized it last year for its questionable value proposition.
