Samsung recently unveiled new 1TB capacity models for its Pro Plus and Evo Select microSD cards, catering to users seeking to optimize storage space on their smartphones, Steam Decks, or Nintendo Switch consoles. These new cards can be purchased from Amazon and Samsung’s online store, with the 1TB Evo Select currently available at a discounted launch price of $90, down from its regular price of $100. While temporarily out of stock on Amazon, customers can still place orders for future shipment. The 1TB Pro Plus model is currently in stock and priced at $120.
Both 1TB Samsung cards come with U3 ratings, denoting Ultra-High Speed Class 3 performance. These high-performance cards boast fast transfer speeds suitable for 4K video read and write capabilities. Moreover, they are compatible with devices like the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch. The Pro Plus model offers a slight speed advantage, with write speeds of up to 180MB/s compared to the Evo Select’s 160MB/s.
The 1TB Evo Select stands out for its exceptional value at $90. It surpasses the 1TB SanDisk Ultra card, a popular choice, in terms of speed while remaining competitively priced. Although Samsung’s Pro Plus cards are superior, they come at a higher cost compared to both the Evo Select and equivalent speed cards from competitors, such as the discounted 1TB SanDisk Extreme offering speeds of up to 190MB/s for $92.60.
As an added bonus, the previous 512GB variants of both models are currently on sale at Amazon. The 512GB Pro Plus card is now priced at $45, reduced from its original $75, while the Evo Select model is available at a discounted price of $40, down from $56.
While Samsung’s entrance into the 1TB microSD card market is noteworthy, other manufacturers also offer cards of similar capacity at more budget-friendly prices. Below is a selection of 1TB microSD cards from various brands, all compatible with the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch.
