Wizards of the Coast Unveils Project Sigil at Gen Con
Wizards of the Coast made a big splash at this year’s Gen Con, showcasing their latest project alongside the excitement of the largest tabletop convention in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin – the birthplace of D&D.
During the D&D Live presentation, dubbed “An Astarion and Karlach Adventure: Love is a Legendary Action,” attendees were treated to a star-studded actual play performance. The cast, led by Dungeon Master Aabria Iyengar, included Brennan Lee Mulligan, Samantha Béart, Neil Newbon, and Anjali Bhimani.
Polygon senior editor Charlie Hall, who was in attendance, noted the captivating performances in the first half of the event, which slightly shortened the time dedicated to showcasing Project Sigil. Despite some rough edges, the virtual tabletop received a positive response from the audience, considering it has yet to enter closed beta.
For those who missed the event, Gen Con has made the full game available on YouTube for viewing pleasure. According to Hall, the playthrough is a must-watch, with an epic reveal in the second half that leaves the cast plenty of room to explore the source material.
Looking ahead, fans can catch Lee Mulligan and Iyengar in their ongoing actual play series, “The Wizard, the Witch, and the Wild One,” while Bhimani is set to join Jon Hamm’s thriller podcast based on D&D’s infamous Satanic Panic era.
