PlayStation Exclusive Title Wild No Longer in Active Development

Wild Development Update: Game Canceled After Years of Uncertainty

After a decade of speculation surrounding the fate of the PlayStation-exclusive game Wild, creative director Steven ter Heide from Wild Sheep Studio has officially announced that the game is no longer in active development and appears to have been canceled. This news comes after years of anticipation and hope for the survival adventure game.

Wild’s Troubled Development Journey

Wild Sheep Studio, founded by Rayman creator Michel Ancel, first revealed Wild at Gamescom in 2014. The announcement was met with excitement, but over the years, the game’s progress faced numerous hurdles. Despite showcasing gameplay, concept art, and a trademark renewal, the development of Wild seemed to be stuck in limbo.

Complications arose when Michel Ancel abruptly left the gaming industry in 2020 to pursue other endeavors, leaving behind a cloud of controversy regarding his leadership at Ubisoft. Nevertheless, Wild Sheep Studio pressed on without Ancel, continuing to recruit talent and listing Wild as an ongoing project. However, the studio’s efforts came to a halt in 2021 when ter Heide confirmed the end of development for Wild.

Looking Forward

Despite the disappointing news about Wild, Wild Sheep Studio appears determined to move forward. The studio has revamped its website and logo, signaling a fresh start on a new project. While details on this upcoming venture are scarce, the studio’s commitment to creating games with “positivity, memorable characters, and believable worlds” remains steadfast.
