Wukong Sales Cross Big Milestone Amid Controversy

Despite facing some controversies along the way, the latest action RPG sensation, Black Myth: Wukong, has achieved an incredible milestone by selling over 10 million copies globally in just one week. Game Science proudly announced this achievement, showcasing the immense popularity of the game among players on both the PS5 and PC platforms.

Black Myth: Wukong’s Rise in Popularity Influencing PS5 Sales

Game Science disclosed that Black Myth: Wukong hit the impressive 10 million mark on August 23, at 9 p.m. Beijing time, just three days after its launch on August 20. With the weekend fast approaching, this number is expected to climb even higher, reflecting the massive appeal of the game.

Black Myth: Wukong’s popularity has even translated into increased PS5 sales in China, a market known for its challenges in selling consoles. Reports indicate that PS5 units are flying off the shelves in major Chinese cities and may be subject to scalping due to the game’s influence. Additionally, there has been a notable uptick in sales of PC and PC components following the game’s release.

While Game Science has made headlines with Black Myth: Wukong’s success, the studio has not been without its share of controversy. The developers sparked backlash by requesting influencers to exclude “feminist propaganda” from their coverage of the game, and have faced allegations of making disparaging remarks towards women on social media. Despite these issues, Game Science has chosen not to address them publicly.
