PS5 Pro benchmark leak suggests 60 fps play with no frame drops at a dynamic 4K resolution

A Sneak Peek at PS5 Pro Performance

A recent leak has provided us with valuable insights into the potential performance of the highly anticipated PS5 Pro. Sony’s latest console, unveiled just last week, is rumored to target a smooth 60fps framerate with a dynamic resolution ranging from 1600p to 2160p in select titles.

The leak originates from the YouTube channel ‘Moore’s Law is Dead’, known for previously revealing accurate information about the specs of upcoming consoles based on leaked developer documents. This leak hinted at the PS5 Pro featuring 2TB of storage and delivering a significant mid-generation leap, boasting up to 45% faster performance compared to the PS5.

Recent validations have confirmed the accuracy of these earlier leaks, adding credibility to the latest claims. According to a recent live stream, the PS5 Pro is projected to maintain a dynamic resolution of 1600-2160p with all in-game settings maxed out for optimal quality, achieving a steady 60fps frame rate. Interestingly, these performance metrics do not even account for the potential enhancement from PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR).

The channel claims its sources include a “developer source” who provided early testing footage showcasing a game running on both the standard PS5 and the upcoming PS5 Pro for direct comparison.

Additionally, it’s speculated that the PS5 Pro will support an impressive 8K resolution, a feature Sony had previously indicated would be available on the base PS5 after a future system software update. However, this anticipated update is yet to roll out.

Furthermore, the PS5 Pro is rumored to benefit from an additional 1.2GB of memory, potentially further enhancing its performance capabilities. If accurate, these details could explain the enhanced visuals showcased in the PS5 Pro reveal live stream. Nevertheless, given the unofficial nature of this leak, it’s advisable to approach this information with caution.

The PS5 Pro is scheduled for release on November 7 with a price tag of $699.99 / £699.99 / (approximately AU$1,052.99). Pre-orders for the PS5 Pro will kick off on September 26 via PlayStation Direct and on October 10 through other participating retailers.
