Hideo Kojima Teases Release Date for Death Stranding 2

During a recent appearance at Tokyo Game Show, Hideo Kojima mentioned that he is aware of the release date for Death Stranding 2. However, he cited “unforeseen circumstances” as the reason for not being able to disclose the date at this moment.

Kojima shared that his team is currently preparing for the release but cannot announce it until sometime next year. While there are no official English versions of his presentation at TGS available yet, you can watch the Japanese livestream below:

According to a report by VGC, Kojima stated, “I haven’t said the release date today, but the release date has already been decided, and I’m currently working on it in preparation for that. Since we are talking about 2025, it will be released next year, so we will announce it at some point next year. But, due to some unforeseen circumstances, we cannot announce it today.”

While Kojima did not provide further details about the unforeseen circumstances or when the official confirmation of the release date will be revealed, he did showcase a new 20-minute gameplay demo of Death Stranding 2.

Originally announced as On the Beach in 2022 during the Game Awards, Death Stranding 2 features well-known actors such as Léa Seydoux and Norman Reedus in a mesmerizing trailer.

Additionally, Kojima recently partnered with talent agency WME to manage his projects and collaborations, hinting that his next endeavor may not be limited to the realm of video games.
