Amazon Releases First Trailer for Live-Action Yakuza Series

With Amazon’s highly anticipated live-action TV adaptation of Like A Dragon/Yakuza nearing its release date, the streaming service has unveiled a new trailer to give fans a better look at the chaotic world of the series. The show is set to premiere on Prime Video on October 24th.

The series, titled Like A Dragon: Yakuza, follows the life of Kazuma Kiryu, a formidable Yakuza warrior known for his strong sense of justice, duty, and humanity. Spanning two different time periods, 1995 and 2005, the show delves into Kiryu’s journey through the underworld of the Yakuza.

The official trailer for Like A Dragon: Yakuza provides a glimpse into Kiryu’s story, filled with drama and intense narratives that explore the darker aspects of the Yakuza world. The series also touches upon the theme of family, highlighting the unique relationships within the Yakuza community.

The live-action adaptation features Ryoma Takeuchi in the role of Kazuma Kiryu, under the direction of Masaharu Take. Amazon is optimistic that the series will replicate the success of its Fallout adaptation, which garnered a massive viewership of 65 million in its first two weeks.

Despite being less mainstream than Fallout, the Yakuza franchise boasts a global fanbase with over 21.3 million units sold worldwide. Sega has also announced an upcoming game titled Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, promising even more wild and imaginative storytelling.
