Sony has once again faced criticism after making Horizon Zero Dawn inaccessible to a significant number of PC players. The decision to delist the original game from Steam, four years after its initial launch on the platform, was made in preparation for the release of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. However, the catch is that the upcoming title will require users to have a PSN account, effectively preventing many players from even being able to purchase the game.

When Horizon Zero Dawn was released on PC in 2020, there was no PSN requirement, allowing players from around the world to buy the game. According to Sony’s policy, the older versions are being delisted to make way for the new SKU, which in turn comes with the PSN requirement.

In regions where PSN is not officially supported, Sony’s games are not available for purchase on Steam. This means that players in these areas will no longer be able to buy the original version of Horizon Zero Dawn, and they will also be excluded from purchasing the remastered edition.

While the decision may be understandable from a business standpoint, it is also causing confusion and may ultimately lead to decreased sales. There is uncertainty surrounding whether Sony intends to expand PSN support to more countries in the future. However, as of now, it seems unlikely that this situation will change anytime soon.
