Sea of Thieves is gearing up for its 14th season, set to release on 17th October, filled with exciting new additions to the multiplayer pirate adventure. Rare has teased a host of stealthy surprises coming our way, promising a fresh and mischievous gameplay experience for players.
Although details are still scarce, with a more comprehensive breakdown video on the horizon, fans can expect new features such as a crouch ability, hanging off the side of ships, sneaking inside chests, and the introduction of a multi-purpose blow dart for strategic gameplay. Additionally, the new grappling gun tool will allow pirates to zip around the world with ease.
One highlight of Season 14 is the grappling gun, which was highlighted in a recent showcase by Rare’s production director, Drew Stevens. Restrictions have been put in place to ensure fair gameplay, such as limitations on using the grappling gun to gain entry to ships directly from the sea. However, it can still be used in creative ways during intense sea chases.
In addition to the grappling gun, Season 14 will introduce a new gameplay mechanic where a ship’s armoury can only be accessed by its own crew, forcing invading players to strategize before engaging in combat. Outposts will also receive new items for players to purchase with their hard-earned gold, including new clothing, accessories, and weapons.
Leading up to the Season 14 launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC, Sea of Thieves will host a Gilded Voyages event from 10th to 17th October, offering valuable loot for players. A weekend of Sea of Thieves Twitch Drops is also scheduled from 17th-21st October, giving players the chance to earn exclusive in-game items.
