Approximately ten years ago, a team of former Rare employees, with a wealth of expertise in crafting iconic platformers, joined forces to establish Playtonic. Their shared goal was to revive the 3D platformer genre, leading to the creation of Yooka-Laylee. Today, with over 60 staff members and numerous projects under their belt, Playtonic has refined their vision, incorporating learned lessons and feedback to introduce Yooka-Replaylee, a definitive version of the beloved 2017 indie 3D mascot platformer. Featuring the dynamic duo of Yooka, the green lizard, and Laylee, the purple bat, this epic adventure is set to launch on Xbox Series X|S!

A great mascot platformer hinges on memorable characters, and Yooka-Replaylee boasts just that with the heroic Yooka and the witty, now fluffy, Laylee leading the way.

The game pits them against the hilariously villainous Capital B, while encountering a diverse cast of characters, both familiar and new. With characters like Coinelius the piggy bank and the helpful Mark the bookmark, every encounter is unique and engaging, enhanced by updated animations and designs.

While the story of Yooka-Replaylee begins in Shipwreck Creek and leads into the lair of the nefarious Capital B at Hivory Towers, the game primarily unfolds within Grand Tomes, each with its distinct setting and ambiance.

Upon entering the world of Yooka-Replaylee, players will discover more vibrant, populated worlds with new challenges, enemies, and collectibles. Every challenge has been enhanced, with new ones added to enrich the gameplay experience.

Adding to the excitement is a new in-game currency called Q.U.I.D.S for players to collect and use, along with an improved world map, guidance from Mark the bookmark, and a new challenge tracker to monitor progress.

Gameplay in Yooka-Replaylee has been revamped to offer a more responsive and intuitive experience for players. With a redesigned move set, streamlined controls, and enhanced camera, players can seamlessly navigate and conquer challenges.

Surprisingly, the double jump mechanic has been replaced in favor of a more fluid jump mechanic. Swim and fly controls have also been reworked to reduce power consumption, ensuring smoother gameplay.

Not only have the characters received visual upgrades, but Yooka-Replaylee has undergone a complete visual overhaul, revamping art assets, UI elements, and the overall aesthetic. The immersive world now feels more alive, enhancing the platforming experience.

Additionally, the orchestral score, inspired by the original compositions of Grant Kirkhope and David Wise, further elevates the game’s atmosphere and charm.
