Capcom Releases Dragon’s Dogma 2 PS5 Pro Update
The highly anticipated launch of the PS5 Pro is drawing near, and developers are wasting no time in optimizing their games to take advantage of the new console’s technology. Capcom has joined the ranks by rolling out the Dragon’s Dogma 2 PS5 Pro update today.
What is the Dragon’s Dogma 2 PS5 Pro update?
Similar to other PS5 Pro updates, Dragon’s Dogma 2 now offers graphics options specifically designed for the enhanced console. Here are the key features introduced with this new update, as per the patch notes:
- PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution added to the Graphics section of the Options menu.
- “Balanced” option now available under Graphics Quality in the Graphics section of the Options menu.
Previously, in June, Dragon’s Dogma 2 received an update that included basic graphics options such as choosing between “low” and “high” Graphics Quality, with the ability to toggle ray tracing and motion blur. It also introduced 120 Hz support for PS5 users with compatible displays. With the latest update, it appears that PSSR will now have its own toggle, akin to the ray tracing and motion blur toggles.
This new graphics mode for the PS5 Pro in Dragon’s Dogma 2 deviates from some of the other enhanced graphics modes seen in games like Spider-Man 2 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which offer performance pro and fidelity pro modes with specific resolution, graphics, and frame rate targets. The PS5 Pro graphics mode in Dragon’s Dogma 2 seems to focus on machine learning technology, allowing players to customize their graphics, frame rate, and visual settings.
Aside from graphics enhancements, the update also brings various modifications and fixes to the game. Here are the additional fixes listed in the patch notes:
- Fixed issue during “Nesting Troubles” quest progression.
- Fixed issue with Pawns’ activity after failing to use “Levitate”.
- Fixed minimap zooming issue at the Hermit’s Retreat.
- Adjusted power of the spell “Maelstrom” during specific fights.
- Fixed sound effect issue in the Character Creator.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is just one of the 80+ video games receiving dedicated PS5 Pro enhancements. The new console is scheduled to launch on November 7, 2024, with a price tag of $699.99.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 made its debut on PS5 back in March, receiving high praise from critics. PlayStation LifeStyle awarded the game a 9/10 rating in their review, with Nicholas Tan stating, “fans of the first Dragon’s Dogma will understand how unusual this world can be for newcomers, and this sequel successfully builds upon what made the original game a cult classic.”
