Sega Delisting ‘Mega Drive Classics’ On Switch eShop This December

Sega has announced its decision to remove the SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive Classics from Nintendo’s Switch eShop. This removal will also affect other games and collections available on platforms like Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation.

The SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive Classics collection will no longer be available for purchase on the Switch eShop starting from December 6, 2024. However, if you already own the collection, you will still be able to download and play it at any time.

“Select games and bundles will be delisted from virtual stores, becoming unavailable for new purchases. Your owned games will still be available in your library.”

But don’t worry, some of the games from this collection will still be accessible through the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service. Sega has confirmed that certain classic titles will remain playable for subscribers of this service.

“Yes, select individual classic titles will still be playable for those who have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.”

You can find more details and see the list of games being removed from other platforms on Sega’s support page. The SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive Classics collection was initially released digitally and physically for the Nintendo Switch in 2018. You can check out the full list of games in this collection in our previous coverage.
