Empire of the Ants: Single-Player Review

Empire of the Ants’ single-player campaign may have visually appealing aesthetics, but it falls short in terms of gameplay. The missions, spanning around 12 hours, oscillate between being too easy due to AI flaws and abruptly difficult, with no mid-mission save option. One particularly frustrating mission involves defending multiple nests simultaneously, making it nearly impossible to fortify each one effectively.
In addition to combat missions, the game includes tedious tasks like bug hunting and stealth missions that lack excitement and challenge. The unique ability to climb objects and walk on the ceiling is underutilized, with only a few missions incorporating this feature.
While players have the option to skip certain missions, the overall campaign experience is lackluster and fails to engage players. The storytelling and character development also fall short of expectations, missing the mark set by the book series the game is based on.
