For fans of JRPGs, this week brings the highly anticipated release of Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake on the Nintendo Switch and other platforms.

While our detailed Nintendo Life review is on the way, we have the first review from the renowned Japanese outlet Famitsu, shared by ‘Ryokutya2089’ (via Gematsu).

The HD-2D makeover of this classic game is off to a good start, as Famitsu awarded it a score of 8/9/9/9, totaling 35/40. The review also highlights that completing the game will take around 35 hours (similar to the original) and can extend to 60-70 hours with side activities.

For those curious about how it stacks up against other Dragon Quest titles, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince earned a score of 36/40 when it launched on the Switch last year. Whereas, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age received a perfect score from Famitsu in the past.

If you’re interested in trying out this game on the Nintendo Switch, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
