Lego Horizon Adventures Review – IGN

Horizon Adventures in Lego Form

Lego Horizon Adventures offers a unique twist on the popular game Horizon Zero Dawn. The game combines the familiar elements of Horizon’s world with the playful co-op action of Lego games, resulting in an enjoyable experience for both existing fans and newcomers.

The game’s 12-hour campaign takes players through various recognizable regions, each filled with machines to defeat, chests to collect Studs from, and charming character interactions. While the campaign is well-paced and entertaining, the predictable level design can leave players wanting more in terms of challenges and activities beyond the main story.

Retelling with a Twist

The game features a cast of playable allies, each adding their own unique charm to the story. Original voice actors reprise their roles, bringing a lighthearted and enjoyable tone to the game. However, some characters like Sylens may feel lacking in comparison due to a change in voice actor.

Master Builder

The Lego rendition of Horizon’s world is visually appealing, capturing the essence of the original game while adding its own Lego charm. The soundtrack is a standout feature, blending elements from Horizon Zero Dawn with new tracks that suit the Lego universe.

However, the level design in Lego Horizon Adventures can feel repetitive, with a formulaic structure that limits exploration and engagement. The lack of puzzles and hidden secrets also detracts from the overall experience, making the game feel somewhat shallow in comparison to other Lego titles.

Piece of Resistance

One of the highlights of the game is the customization options, allowing players to unlock various costumes and town alterations by completing tasks and challenges. The skill tree system adds depth to gameplay, offering both general and character-specific upgrades to enhance the gaming experience.

While the difficulty settings provide options for players to tailor their experience, the lack of mechanics for dodging attacks and the unpredictability of item drops can be frustrating at times. Overall, Lego Horizon Adventures offers a fun and entertaining take on the Horizon Zero Dawn universe, blending familiar elements with the creativity of the Lego world.
