Fable Reportedly Has Witcher-Like Combat

Exciting Details Revealed for Upcoming Fable Sequel

After a long 14-year wait, fans of the Fable series were thrilled to finally get a glimpse of the upcoming sequel earlier this year at Summer Game Fest. While there hasn’t been any new trailer releases since then, a recent report has shed some light on what we can expect from the game.

According to Windows Central’s Jez Corden, who had the opportunity to view alpha footage of Fable, the combat mechanics of the game are drawing inspiration from CD Projekt RED’s acclaimed title, The Witcher 3. The combat system in Fable is said to seamlessly transition between melee weapons and magical attacks, reminiscent of Geralt’s fighting style in The Witcher 3. While not an exact copy, Corden was impressed by the similarities.

Corden also mentioned some interesting details about the game’s enemies, such as a dangerous giant chicken and a werewolf that can be lured out with a “full English breakfast.” Additionally, he confirmed the presence of the female main character from the initial trailer and hinted at the possibility of players being able to select their character, with the male model yet to be revealed.

For those eagerly awaiting more footage of Fable, the next opportunity to see the game in action may come during The Game Awards next month. Fable is scheduled for release on Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2025.
