Behold the answers for today’s Connections, game #535:

  • YELLOW: NOT WORKING RELIABLY BUGGY, ERRATIC, GLITCHY, SPOTTY
  • GREEN: CAR PARTS BUMPER, GRILLE, MIRROR, RIM
  • BLUE: WHAT A SITTER MIGHT SIT BABY, HOUSE, PET, PLANT
  • PURPLE: ___ BAND BOY, RUBBER, TRIBUTE, WEDDING
  • My rating: Moderate
  • My score: 3 mistakes

Today’s challenge had me on the edge of failure, but I managed to pull through at the last minute by uncovering a crucial connection.

Initially, identifying NOT WORKING RELIABLY in yellow was a breeze. I stumbled on the blue group but finally cracked it with WHAT A SITTER MIGHT SIT: BABY, HOUSE, PET, and PLANT. However, I hit a roadblock from there.

Recognizing that MIRROR, GRILLE, and BUMPER were all CAR PARTS was straightforward, but I struggled with RIM. Despite its association with cars, I hesitated to include it. After exploring other avenues with no success, I circled back to cars and realized that RIM fit perfectly. It was a humbling moment indeed.

What is NYT Connections?

NYT Connections is a popular word game series developed by the New York Times. Players must group four items that share a common trait, with varying difficulty levels: green (easy), yellow (moderate), blue (challenging), and purple (very difficult).

While solving the final puzzle isn’t mandatory, deductions can guide you to the correct answers. Plus, you have the freedom to make up to four errors, providing some leeway in the game.

Unlike simpler games like Wordle, NYT Connections can throw curveballs with wordplay and tricks. Stay sharp for homophones and other linguistic challenges that may obscure the solutions.

You can enjoy this game for free on the NYT Games platform, accessible on both desktop and mobile devices.
