Activision continues to take a firm stance against cheating in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, with the announcement of “hourly sweeps” of the game’s Ranked Play mode and leaderboards. Since the launch of Ranked Play last week, more than 19,000 bans have been issued by Activision’s anti-cheat squad, Team Ricochet.
In a recent social media post, Activision shared that Ricochet’s AI systems are being optimized to expedite enforcement actions against cheaters. The company expressed gratitude for players’ patience as they work diligently to combat cheating in the game.
The introduction of Black Ops 6’s highly competitive Ranked Play mode on November 21st was met with a mixed response, as players voiced concerns about the prevalence of cheating in the game. One fan pointed out the influx of new accounts being created despite the ban wave, highlighting the ongoing challenge of dealing with cheaters.
Prior to the launch of Ranked Play, Activision had made adjustments to Ricochet’s detection systems to address certain behaviors such as AFK farming and the use of VPNs to create alternate accounts. Despite these efforts, cheaters have continued to pose a significant problem in the game.
With the recent announcement that Black Ops 6 had the biggest launch in the history of Call of Duty, Activision acknowledged the impact of adding the game to Xbox Game Pass. However, Eurogamer’s Chris Tapsell raised concerns about the game’s adherence to a familiar formula, suggesting a reluctance to take creative risks in the industry.
