Baldur’s Gate 3 was a standout game of 2023, earning numerous Game of the Year accolades and leaving a lasting impact on players. With the upcoming Patch 8, long-awaited features will finally be introduced.
What can players expect from Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8?
Set to be the next substantial update for the popular RPG, Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 is scheduled for an early release next year. Among the new additions are cross-play functionality, a photo mode, and the inclusion of 12 new subclasses. This update will be accessible on all platforms, including the PS5.
According to a recent Baldur’s Gate 3 Community Update, cross-play will enable players to engage with one another across different platforms. Whether playing on PS5, PC, Xbox, or Mac, gamers will have the option to connect and play together. To utilize this feature, players will need to activate cross-play and have a Larian Network account.

This mode offers various camera settings to focus on specific characters within a party, as well as lens settings, scene settings, post-processing effects, frames, and stickers to personalize photos. Players can utilize the photo mode both during gameplay and cinematic sequences, although adjustments to camera and lens settings are unavailable during cinematics.
In addition, Patch 8 will introduce 12 new subclasses for each existing class in the game. These subclasses will bring fresh abilities, animations, visual effects, summons, and cantrips to the gameplay experience. The following new subclasses will be included in Baldur’s Gate 3:
