If you’re a PC gamer looking for the ultimate office chair, there is no shortage of brands and options at every price point.
If you’re a PC gamer in search of the perfect throne for your gaming endeavors, you’ll find a plethora of choices available in the market, catering to every budget. However, once you cross the $1000 mark, the expectations skyrocket for top-notch performance. Mavix steps up to the plate with the M9 Gaming Chair, boasting an overclocked performance and top-tier engineering. While the company may throw around all the PC gaming jargon they want, the real test lies in the final product. After configuring the M9 to your liking, Mavix manages to deliver a chair that comes close to being a beast, although it may fall short of the quality you’d expect for its price point.
Mavix M9 Gaming Chair – Options and Assembly
When it comes to the M9, Mavix provides enthusiasts with a selection of four color schemes for the base model: all-black, all-white cushions, two-tone black and white, and black and glacier blue, all starting at $999 (occasionally discounted). The M9 is also purchasable on Amazon in black, white, and black and white variations, albeit only in the basic setup. Depending on your preferences, you can opt to include the Elemax cooling, heating, and massage unit in the lumbar support for an additional $129. The standard model comes equipped with highly adjustable 4D arms, but for more flexibility, you can upgrade to the FS 360-degree rotational arms for an extra $164. Wheel customization offers nine color choices, from red and smoke to azure and venom.
For my setup, I went with the black base model and added the Elemax unit, FS 360-degree rotational arms, and smoke-colored wheels, bringing the total to $1292. While it may come with a price tag, the Elemax feature caught my attention due to its potential relief for my lower back issues and heat regulation during long gaming sessions.
Irrespective of your chair configuration choice, be prepared for a sizeable, hefty box weighing over 70 pounds upon delivery. It’s advisable to have a second pair of hands to assist in moving the package, as it’s cumbersome and requires delicate handling. Despite the rough handling during shipping, the contents inside remain intact.
Upon unpacking, you’ll find two Allen wrenches and a set of bolts and washers for assembly, accompanied by an absence of written instructions. Mavix directs customers to an instructional video for assembly guidance. Additionally, the FS 360-degree rotational arms and wheel alternatives arrive in separate boxes within the main package, each with their individual set of instructions and components.

The Elemax unit comes pre-installed in the lumbar support, accompanied by separate installation and removal instructions. It includes a USB-A power brick and a barrel connector to USB-A cable for power, although any standard USB-A port can suffice for charging.
Assembling the chair proves to be a straightforward process, requiring minimal steps and manageable by a single person. However, having an extra set of hands to assist in aligning the arms during assembly can expedite the process. If you prefer not to attach the headrest, a cover is provided for the slot.
