30th Anniversary PS5 DualSense Packaging Varies by Region

In recent news, the special edition PlayStation 30th anniversary PS5 DualSense controller packaging has revealed some intriguing regional distinctions. When my controller finally arrived, I noticed that the box looked different from the ones I had seen in unboxing videos on YouTube, causing a moment of panic. Fortunately, it was indeed an authentic PlayStation product and not a counterfeit.

Regional Variations in PlayStation 30th Anniversary DualSense Packaging

Interestingly, the outer box of the 30th anniversary controller comes in either white or yellow sides depending on the region. This variation seems to pay homage to the different packaging styles of the original PS1 console.

One of the most captivating aspects is the inner box that houses the DualSense controller, sporting a stylish 30th anniversary branding. However, I received a plain white inner box instead of the grey one, as shown in the image below.

While some unboxing videos showcase the DualSense controllers nestled in a cardboard tray with iconic PlayStation symbols, I personally prefer the simplicity of having an actual box, even if it’s just a plain white one, as opposed to a tray resembling egg cartons.

Although the variation in outer boxes is understandable, I do wish I had received the grey PS1-themed inner packaging. Nevertheless, the controller looks fantastic on my desk, and I’m relieved that it’s an authentic product.

Update: The Japanese version of the packaging stands out with its unique design, featuring the PS1-themed grey inner box.
