The Wait For GTA 6’s Second Trailer Just Broke A Sad Record

Rockstar Games Trailer Wait Times

It’s been over a year since Rockstar Games released the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, and the anticipation for the next trailer has reached record levels for the developer.

The time between Trailer 1 and the upcoming Trailer 2 for GTA VI has now surpassed the wait times for the first and second trailers for Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption II.

GTA V debuted its first trailer on November 2, 2011, followed by its second trailer on November 14, 2012, making a total of 378 days between the two. Red Dead Redemption II released its initial trailer on October 20, 2016, and the second trailer on September 28, 2017, with a gap of 343 days. On the other hand, GTA VI’s first trailer was unveiled on December 4, 2023, with the second trailer yet to come.

As of December 20, it has been 381 days since the first trailer release, marking the longest wait for a follow-up trailer for a major Rockstar Games new release in over a decade.

Despite the lack of new information, GTA fans are eagerly awaiting any news to piece together a timeline for the second trailer’s arrival. However, no updates have been shared yet. Strauss Zelnick, the head of Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two, acknowledged fans’ frustrations but emphasized that GTA VI will only be released when it meets the necessary standards.

During the holidays, Rockstar has a tradition of unveiling new content for major games, like the new GTA V screens on Christmas Eve in 2012. However, there are no indications of any new announcements for GTA VI before the end of 2024.

GTA VI is scheduled for release in Fall 2025, a timeframe that Take-Two has consistently reaffirmed. It’s worth noting that every Rockstar Games title in the past decade has faced delays from their initially announced release dates.

GTA VI transports players back to Vice City, Miami’s counterpart, for the first time in the main series since GTA: Vice City in 2002. The game seems to revolve around two main characters, aligning with rumors that GTA VI could feature a storyline reminiscent of Bonnie and Clyde, focusing on two robbers.
