Forget the Nintendo Switch 2, I’m now obsessed with the upcoming Lego Game Boy

Nintendo’s Latest Console Announcement

Speculation has been rampant about the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, but Nintendo has surprised everyone with a different kind of console announcement.

On January 9, Nintendo unveiled a new Lego model Game Boy. According to an X / Twitter post, fans will soon be able to “build the classic Nintendo System in Lego form” with the set set to release in October 2025.

The teaser video accompanying the post gives a sneak peek at some of the pieces that will be included in the set. From flat grey tiles to smooth circular purple tiles resembling the iconic purple buttons of the original Game Boy, it promises to be a nostalgic building experience.

Although this announcement may not be what everyone was expecting, the Lego Game Boy certainly has its appeal. Fans of both Nintendo and Lego will likely be eager to get their hands on this model when it becomes available.

This collaboration isn’t the first between Nintendo and Lego, with previous releases including the Lego Nintendo Entertainment System and the Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi model. The Lego Super Mario line, targeted at children, also offers a unique way to interact with popular gaming characters.
