Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Preorders Cancelled on Amazon
Excitement has been building for Metroid fans ever since the announcement of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond back in June 2017. Amazon started taking preorders shortly after the reveal, and despite the game’s long development cycle, those preorders remained active. However, Amazon has recently made the decision to cancel these longstanding preorders, leaving many fans disappointed.
It seems that this cancellation is likely a mistake on Amazon’s part rather than an indication of any major setbacks with the game itself. GameSpot has reached out to Nintendo for clarification on the situation. Some individuals, including a GameSpot staff member who had preordered the game six years ago at a discounted price of $48, have reported receiving notifications about their orders being canceled.
Following the initial announcement, Nintendo provided an update on Metroid Prime 4’s development in 2019. The company revealed that the project was starting fresh with Retro Studios, the team behind the original Metroid Prime trilogy. In the years since the game’s announcement, Nintendo has released other Metroid titles for the Switch console, including a standalone adventure called Metroid Dread and a remastered version of Metroid Prime. Additionally, remasters of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption are reportedly in the works for the Switch platform.
While fans wait for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond to finally hit shelves in 2025, it’s worth revisiting Samus Aran’s past adventures in the series to stay up to date with the iconic character’s storyline. Although a specific release date has not been confirmed by Nintendo yet, the anticipation for this long-awaited title continues to grow.
