Exciting news for fans of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii – the game will include a New Game Plus option, and the best part is, it will be free!
This announcement was made during the Like a Dragon Direct presentation on Sega’s official YouTube channel. Towards the end of the 13-minute showcase, it was confirmed that players will have access to New Game Plus for free, although it will be added to the game through a post-release patch.
While there is no official release date for the patch just yet, it is expected to be available shortly after the game’s launch. Players will still need to complete the game at least once in order to unlock the New Game Plus mode.
This is a significant development considering how New Game Plus was handled in the previous title, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, where it was offered as paid DLC. This move left players who purchased the standard edition feeling disappointed.
New Game Plus has always been a key feature in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series, often known as Premium New Game or as a Premium Adventure mode that allows players to freely explore the game world to complete remaining side quests and objectives. It also lets players carry over progress such as stats, weapons, skills, and items into a new playthrough, providing added replay value.
