Diablo 4 is Blizzard’s most anticipated game this 2023. Even with all the internal problems the studio faces, the game will still be released on schedule. Ahead of its June 2, 2023, official launch, Blizzard will give players a chance to experience the world of Sanctuary once again with its open beta version. Here is how fans can access Diablo 4 beta this coming March.
When is the Diablo 4 Beta?
There are two scheduled dates for the playtest of Diablo 4. The first is Early Access for those who pre-purchased the game, while the second is an open-to-all beta. Here is the date for these two playtests:
- Early Access Open Beta – March 17 to 19
- Public Open Beta – March 24 to 26
1. Request Access
Players can request access to the Diablo 4 beta by signing up on the official website. Only select applicants will be given access to this version of the game. However, this process has been replaced since it will be an open beta.
There are currently two ways to access Diablo 4 before its official release. The first is to pre-order the game via the Blizzard store. Buyers will get a code to redeem to be eligible for the Early Access Open Beta. Here are all the bundles that players can pre-purchase:
- Standard Edition
- Deluxe Edition
- Ultimate Edition
Players who buy any of these packages will receive an Early Access Open Beta code. The only difference between these bundles is the in-game rewards they get for the official release. If you have already bought one of these editions, check your email to see if you have received the key codes.
To access the Public Open Beta, players do not need any confirmation email or codes to play the game. It is an open version available to everyone, so fans need to have Diablo 4 installed on their devices. Players must stay tuned and see when they can log in to play.
2. Access Via Pre-Purchase Code
If you pre-purchased the game and received the code, you must follow several steps to access the game on March 17. Fans should note that their process might differ if they bought Diablo 4 on console. Here is what you should do to enter the Early Access Open Beta:
- Go to diablo.com/beta
- Login your Battle.net account and enter your code
- Select your gaming platform and region, and ensure you have entered the correct info.
- Click Redeem to verify if your code is valid and activated for your account.
- PC players will be tagged as soon as they redeem the code. Those who use console will receive a download code for the beta near the Early Access date.
What to Expect from Diablo 4 Open Beta
Since the upcoming early access dates are Open Beta, players will have limited content to explore. What we know is that only the Prologue and the entirety of Act 1 will be accessible, but we do not know if gamers will get to explore further than that. In addition, only the Barbarian class has been discussed as a playable job during the Open Beta. We will have to wait for further info if other specializations are included in the playtest.
The max level for characters during the Open Beta is level 25, so players will get a bit of action to reach the cap. Unfortunately, we don’t know if your progress during the playtest will carry over when the official game launches. Though we can assume that characters played during this period will be erased or reset since there will be a lot of changes between the Open Beta and the official release.
Will Diablo 4 Be Delayed
We don’t have any confirmation that Diablo 4 will be delayed. However, fans should still consider the possibility of the release being postponed due to the internal issues in Blizzard. There has been a recent conflict inside the company ever since their problem with Microsoft and Sony.
Diablo 4 will also take a hit after NetEase cut its ties with Blizzard following their end of the contract. The two companies had what players would call “a messy divorce” as both sides made snarky comments about each other. Due to the expiration of the licensing agreement, Blizzard won’t be able to publish their games in China, which makes up a substantial portion of its player base.
Whether these issues will affect the release date is yet to be determined. The June 6 release date will likely push through. In the meantime, players should stay tuned to the upcoming Open Beta.
