Tears of the Kingdom trailer boasts ferocious foes

Nintendo’s final trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom boasts ferocious foes, mighty set-pieces, and intriguing story beats. Nintendo shared the nearly four minute trailer with us via a live stream today, showcasing many of the game’s features, and what we have to look forward to when launch arrives in a month.

The final Tears of the Kingdom trailer is here

Many fans were anticipating a trailer to rival the hype of the final Breath of the Wild trailer that was revealed at the Nintendo Switch presentation in 2017, and the final Tears of the Kingdom trailer delivered the hype. The most exciting thing was the reveal of Ganondorf’s appearance, which shows him as the formidable foe that we know him to be. Wielding what seems to be a sheathed sword in his official artwork, and wearing a robe, he dons the look we associate with Ganondorf. He looks fantastic.

On the topic of foes you’ll be facing during your time in the Hyrule of Tears of the Kingdom, there appears to be a number of massive foes that show up in the aftermath of Breath of the Wild, including a three-headed dragon, and a monster wielding terrifying pinsers.

But don’t fret, you shan’t be facing these enemies on your own at times it seems. There seems to be portions in the game where other characters will accompany you through the world and fight alongside you, as seen by Sidon fighting a Zonai construct alongside Link.

There also seems to be a high amount of set-piece type encounters in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. There’s quite a few of them here, with one taking place on a minecart, Resident Evil 4 style. The appearance of structures over Hyrule also seems to be a common occurrence, maybe showcasing Tears of the Kingdom’s dungeons, like the Divine Beasts of Breath of the Wild.

It all turns to Link to save the day when The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom launches on Nintendo Switch on May 12. You can pre-order the game from the Nintendo Store.
